I have had a bubble tip anemone for over a year now and it almost never eats. Not that it won't accept food. My clownfish that host in it always just know it out whenever I try to feed it. It seems perfectly healthy and grows at ridiculous rates. Within a year it has split numerous times and each now anemone has grown to be 6-8 inches in diameter. has anyone ever had an experience like this before? What is your experience with feeding anemones?

Technically if you throw food in your tank your clowns should grab it and take it back to your annenome. By virtue of this, they feed the nem. I have two clowns that host my five nems and I have seen this phenomenon happen once. I feed my nems directly every 2-3 days. Either pieces of silver or a piece of shrimp from the frozen section of the grocery store.

I bought three nems 7-9 months ago and I now have 5. It’s about the only thing in my tank I can make grow (but that’s another story).

I always go with how things look, if your nems are full, open, splitting, and don’t have open, gapping mouths, don’t change what you’re doing.

You may watch your clowns and see if they are feeding the nems.

Never fed my BTA, once I realized they still grow, and split and look healthy.

Fed my Haddoni, and it responded well.

Have not feed my Sebae but the clowns that it host are heavily feed.
