I was gifted a bunch of coral from a member here and with that came a bleached purple Aussie torch it is completely white but opens up very nicely and accepts food as it snags shrimp chunks when I feed the fish

how much of what should I feed this thing? It opens up to about 2 golf ball size
Also has any one tried or seen anything about using excreted zooxanthellae to a bleached coral? Would that be somthing that could be a source new zooxanthellae? Or is it just waste? And even if it was a sorce if zooxanthellae can they replace them by eating them?

My advice would be to keep it in a very low light setting for a for a while. Zooxanthellae in tissue act as a sunscreen as well as a way of producing sugars for the coral to eat.

Too much light with bleached tissue can cause the coral to shut down and die.

as long as you have proper nutrients in the water, it will get what it needs food wise. At this point I would not be target feeding it.

Awesome ty it’s on the floor and slightly shaded from a over hand that it can peek out from if it wants currently at around 75-80 par

Agree with flipper, keep it in pretty low light but not zero. As long as you've got plenty of nutrients in the water and it continues to catch the chunks while you feed the tank I'd say that it'll be just fine. Make sure its still got good flow and that nothing is bothering it, I'd expect a full recovery. Never heard of people feeding zooxanthellae
