hey yall, i got a light rose bubble tip anemone and a rock flower anemone hoping they split but havent had any luck 3 months now, was told people feed them directly trying to figure out what to feed them and how to feed them.
i buy small cubes of mysis shrimp which i feed twice weekly and usually pick some up with a turkey blaster and just shoot it towards it not sure if it actually eats it.

people say to feed them a small piece of shrimp what do they mean they just go buy frozen shrimp in the store? and just cut a piece off defrost and put it on its mouth or what.

i feed mysis and pellets during the week whats the best idea for this.

Yup :) Many people will feed chunks of raw shrimp, or chunks of silversides (these are usually gotten at your LFS) but raw uncooked shrimp can be picked up at the grocery store :)

You can buy regular size shrimp, just cut it up into small chunks and feed it a single chunk at a time to see how it does.

I used to buy wild-caught shrimp from the deli and remove the outer shell, cut into small pieces and freeze in some tank water in a covered ice cube tray. When I wanted to feed I'd just pop one out, thaw it and feed.

I have back up to 15 BTA's. I seldom feed but when I do I just spray with mysis and they thrive.

I stopped silversides a couple of years back because of thaw/refreeze thingy and many folks were having spoiled fish problems with this happening and sick anemones showing up.

I don’t find mine at all they all grow very good and some split they just grab little pieces when I feed the fish

I usually defrost a cube of Mysis in an irrigation syringe. I turn off the pumps and squirt it right into the nem. It split within 4 months.

I feed my BTA live minnows that are too large for my dwarf fuzzy lion to eat. I have a 5 gallon FW nano for them an ghost shrimp and just net one then using a long pair of forceps I grab the fish and insert it into the nem's tentacles. For my rock flowers they usually get a chunk of thawed silver side, squid, or scallop meat. I usually feed them or twice a week like this.

Silversides have been problematic for many anemone keepers, I would avoid those.

Raw shrimp, scallops are better for larger pieces, mysis is great, and to induce a split just step up feedings more than a couple times a week.
3 months is still relatively new to tank, patience.

Exactly what I do once in a blue moon, they do capture a small portion of daily feeding and do well too. The rest is up to the mated pair of ~12 years shown to feed and groom them. lol

Wow... that is a beautiful tank.

My BTAs grow and split constantly, I let them catch the food I broadcast to the tank. I used to feed them directly, but haven't in years. I probably have 20 right now.... started with 2 2 years ago & I've sold probably 5-6 over the last year. They're like rabbits.
