Feeding clams

I’ll follow along here….great question IMM.
I have 4 clams for years, fish never once bothered them.
But I have not fed anything with a clam content.
Yet.

I have mussels in my homemade fish food for about 2 years. None of my fish have gone for my clam. My blenny hangs out inside it sometimes, but has never nipped at it.

Would mussels be different from clams? My worry comes from reading somewhere on here that when fish develop a taste for coral or clams, they'll go after them as food.

I didn't know if feeding frozen store brought clams counted as it.

I feed reef frenzy to my tank that has a clam, and clam/oysters are part of the ingredients. So far my fish have not developed a taste for my maxima

They are very similar, but I honestly couldn’t say how close to clams they are. I know some of the powdered foods for corals have clam in them and I haven’t had an issue.

Probably fine as long as you do not feed the clam in half shell. I fed this when I had no clams in the system, but I lost the fish requiring it, so have not done them since adding my clams and all my new fish.
It is funny, because I do not think they will relate one to the other really. However, I make my own food and I opted for scallops and oysters instead of clams. :)

Are your maximas frozen or blended?
I have no idea if one action will lead to another in this instance. I think if your fish get hungry they may go after anything in the tank that might digest.

I was thinking if you just threw it in with the shell. That is how I fed them. Blending them in the food is different. I would think it would be fine. :)
