Hi everyone. I purchased 10 hermits, and a common starfish from my lfs a week ago. They also sold me a bottle of DT Plankton and said to put it in once a week. Im a newbie and super paranoid about an ammonia spike or worse and check water every other day wven though im cycled. I got to thinking why in the world i need to put plankton in the tank when thats the purpose of this cleanup crew is to clean that stuff out. Im just confused now totally and afraid im gonna spike my ammonia or cause algae. Any opinions from experience?

The phytoplankton will help feed the microfauna in the tank which will help break down detritus ect , helping you keep your tank clean. A healthy microfauna population will also help to feed your tank naturally.
Feed sparingly to start and go from there. If your system is running properly, you will not have any issues.

Edit. After reading your title...it's not going to feed the cleanup crew, mainly microfuana, sponges, some corals etc.
