I've been reading a lot lately about feeding corals at night. I'm just curious what the routine is for most reefers. How many times a week should we be feeding them? Should they be spot fed or can you just feed the entire tank, kill the pumps and let them feed on their own. I feed my fish daily, but I want to make sure that the corals are not deprived of anything they might be needing other than the fish poop.

ugh…I'm lazy too. I get up pretty early in the morning so feeding them at "night" is not an issue. I usually mix up oyster feast, photo feast and cyclopeeze but I want to make sure I'm actually being effective and not just polluting the tank. I also just started dosing amino acids and am not really sure if I should add this to the nightly mix or feed separately.

I feed mine only once in awhile, if you have the correct lighting you technically don't need to feed, but you can. I target feed using a 1 gallon milk jug cut in half. I stick in the turkey baster in the skinny end, and put the jug over the coral, so that it just falls on it, and doesn't go all over the tank.

I know I am in the business of selling coral food so it might not be appropriate for me to comment, but as I have stated many times and it is on our website, always feed on the lighter side. I am not a fan of heavy feeding unless you have the equipment to remove the excess nutrients that will be left behind from the excess food.

I am a firm believer in the statement, "Less is More". There are not too many companies out there that will tell you to use less of their product.
