Dropped a piece of silverfish on my elegance coral frag, but 15 minutes later he is not grabbing the food. It is still sitting in the middle of it.

is this normal?

How many mouths does the elegance frag have ?

try smaller pieces of food .
I think one mouth. I mean it is not even trying to grab it at all.

Usually coral and anemone if you touch them they will close up and grab. This elegance doesn’t do that. It will just stay open.

I have always seen a pretty fast and noticeable feeding response from mine. Did it just wake up? Perhaps it's just not hungry. Have you tried feeding in the past and seen a noticeable response?

I’d pull that out, wait a day, and try something far less gigantic. Mysis, or just cut a tiny piece off of that silverside.

I tried pellets, reefroids, etc. Same response. I can try later when the light is on. But since day one, I have never seen it grabbing for food.
How long have you had it ?

let it settle ,

try mysis or brine shrimp to encourage feeding
I have it for a year now.

My Elegance eats every day. I feed my fish LRS Reef Frenzy Nano and the Elegance is quick to trap any pieces that touch it. I was target feeding it (6 mouths) when I first got it and now I don’t even bother.
The drawback to it eating every time the fish eat is that it closes up while it digests and they are so beautiful when they are fully open.

Hmm that doesn't sound great. Should have grown at least somewhat in a year. How about your water parameters? Other corals? Lighting?
Other LPS is growing and eating. Alk 9, Cal 450, Mag 1450. Nitrate <2 ppm and phosphate 0.03. Lighting two Radion XR15 gen 5 blue
