Hey guys,

I am considering yanking my fish and going fallow for 76 days... I am curious what you guys do to “feed” your tank while there is no fish? I do have a mix of sps and lps and like to keep some NO3 and PO4 in the water. I know i can test and dose those as needed but is there anything else i should feed? And how often? Tank is 6 months old and finally stabilizing, i am seeing good coralline growth as well. I dont want to crash it because there is no longer a bioload. Also, what about skimming? Should i run my skimmer while fallow?

Thanks guys, any advice helps!

You have snails, crabs and other inverts? They would appreciate a quarter or half a frozen cube or pinch of flakes/pellets every few days. If your NO3 and PO4 drop more than you want, feed a little more often.

Good point, i only have snails currently. Though i guess it would be a good time to add a few more inverts huh? My DT could serve as a invert QT because its sitting fallow...

That could work if you add them all at once and don't add anything else for 76 days.
Even if most diseases don't infect inverts, to do that 'by the book' you have to reset the clock as of the last addition.
