Feeding for the first time

When I feed, I’ve read that you should shut the pumps off. Is this correct? If so, anyone with experience with a biocube 32? Is it possible to shut the pumps off other than unplugging?

Depending on your setup but yes i would turn pumps off before feeding so food doesn’t get sucked into rear chamber. Most people use controllers and then enter feed mode. Yes you would have to unplug if you want off unless you install some type of switch. There are some nice power strips for sale that have switch’s check into them!

I am just finishing the cycle but I was thinking about feeding and how having the pump on affects it. I plan on feeding frozen and pellets but I don’t have any fish just yet.

Ive never turned a pump off to feed, I drop in a scoop of frozen blend or throw in pellets- the food gets distributed- the fish chase it down, everyone gets to eat including the corals and inverts. Just my way- fish will happily swim after food and then you don’t need to worry about only the biggest and baddest being hogs if the food is dropped in one location. I’m sure there’s arguments for both methods but there’s no off switch for flow in the ocean so that’s what I go with.

I always turn my pumps off when feeding and gives the coral time to digest the food instead of having it blown around.
