Feeding help to much to little?

Was wondering if I could get some feedback on feeding my tank. I always here about how you shouldn't over feed so I'm trying to find a good balance. I have a 100g quarter round. a maroon clown, chevron tang, yellow tang, coral beauty angle, a large stary Benny, fox face, bangi cardinal. I feed them half a sheet of purple seaweed and about a dime size of either rods or piscine mysis shrimp a day. Sometimes dry food new Ara to make it easy on my roommates lol. I also feed my corals brightwell micro diet a few times a week. They eat as much as they can get like mad men. They eat what ever I give them till it's all gone. Any feedback on if I'm feeding to much to little? Any info on cons of over feeding, maybe pros?

What I've heard bad about over feeding is high nutrients, Algee high nitrates.

If you have a great skimmer and good cleanup crew, your fears won't be so bad.

I have a 29 gal tank I feed once a day.. odd days is reef ready type food, and other days it is pellets for the fish.
I would recommend only feeding what they will eat in 5 min.. if you see a lot of it hitting the bottom of the tank, cut back on the amount given.. if nothing hits the bottom, then feed just a little more.. I know it is not great and easy advice, but it is a handy thing to follow.

I think we generally way over feed. I have tried over the last year to feed less. My fish still grow like crazy.

I feed a pinch of pellet/flake mix or a half cube of my sis 4 times a week .

I put a half nori sheet in once a week in addition and I feed my corals a powdered coral food (that the fish Aldo eat) about once or twice a month.

2 percula clowns
Yellow tang
Engineer goby
Cleaner shrimp.

At that level of feeding my clowns and tang have grown and my hermits and shrimp eat well too.

Ya I feel like I'm over feeding sometimes, but on the other hand I tend to be more like a gramma feeding her grand kids giving them as much as they want to eat lol.

I'm trying to cut back on the feeding bc I definitely see a difference in the algae build up. I feed once a day with pellets. I skip a day from time to time and I also feed frozen food sporadically. Some does hit the bottom but my nassarius snails and worm take care of it.

As long as you are not having nuisance algae problems you are okay. But sometimes overfeeding can lead to excessive nutrient buildup which will cause you to have algae outbreaks. I advise feeding what your fish will consume In 2-3 minutes without food hitting bottom of tank.

Yea i do have problems with Algee on my glass. I feel like it grows to fast

I've found giving two smaller meals a day really helps cut back. The fish have still grown like crazy, but my front glass on the tank only needs work once a month, and even then it only takes about 5 mins to clean. Every tank ecosystem is different though. Play around until you find a good balance for your tank.
