This question isn't related to fish directly, so this might be in the wrong place, but it ultimately comes around to fish disease prevention. If I'm wrong, #modsquad please move.

I started up a 5g QT for a couple of emeralds and a couple of pep shrimp the other day. 76 day countdown is under way (is it April 13 yet!?). While in QT, I'd like to feed the emeralds bubble algae from my DT and maybe some of the anemone-like pests for my peppermint shrimp. My question is, does this violate my QT process?

I could be introducing something from my DT into the QT, but ultimately that's going to happen anyway once I transfer them. I can't think of a good reason not to do this, but I could be missing a big one :)

I would just rinse the bubble algae or at the very east add it manually without introducing any tank water to the QT. As far as the shrimp, i would just spot feed it frozen or something similar. Kudos to you for quarantining your inverts that long. Mine usually go right in.

This is fine to do. You are reasonably sure the DT is disease free right? Besides with no fish present in the QT anything that might be introduced will starve and die. The most important part of Invert QT is that the parasites that may have attached to their shells break free and die while in there. Once the shrimp molt, they will be fine to go into the display.

DT is disease free as far as I know. 8 or so year old clown fish is the only inhabitant.

Good to know about the shrimp!

Hey gang thought id ask in this thread. Im getting ready to transfer fish and inverts from my 2ogallon reef to 30gallon QT, then into my reefer525.

What animals in what groups and what order should I tansfer?

2Peppermint shrimp
Cleaner shrimp
Various unknown number of snails
Various unknown number of hermits
1 coco worm
Duster worms
And I suspect I have a pistol shrimp. (Popping does occur now and then)

Melanarus wrasse
Firefish
Diamond goby

Various corals

Thanks!

I'm a bit confused. Are you going to be treating these animals for anything? Or is this just a holding tank until the the Reefer is ready for them?

I want to treat the fish with prazi and rally with no intents to treat fish with any copper as of now. Fish looks great, but ive seen my wrasse flash here and there. Thinking flukes are possible.

So inverts are fine in prazi and rally but the worms wont be correct?

Ive got about 4 -6 weeks before I want fish in the reefer. Figured its best to start with what I already have.

Ok. A freshwater dip would be best to confirm flukes are present. That way you know if you even need to dose prazi.

I get it.
