I got a lionfish from a local guy Saturday he showed me the fish eating frozen shrimp the day after being home he ate a peace or two for me. But now he wouldn’t eat it for nothing so I got a few feeder fish he go right at them. I only got 9 minnows and I have 5 left. I’m trying to avoid going to pet store for awhile due to the virus. Should I feed him till he’s full and skim days in middle of feeding or feed a few a day

Hi,

can we get just a bit more info. When was the last time he ate, how big is he, how big were the feeders, and what size tank And what else is in tank

need to see if we can figure out his feeding habit in his new home

I stand by my advice from one of your other threads. Don't feed it every day. 2-3 times a week is plenty. And I would take it back, since a 40 breeder won't work.

I would agree with the opinion above. I have kept lionfish in the past and you only want to feed 2- times a week, the tank is also too small for the type you have. As far as behavior most lionfish tend to just chill in a spot(sometimes upside down) unless they see something they want to eat. I'm not sure how long you have been in the hobby but you want to do all this research before buying the fish otherwise you learn hard lessons.
