I never had an issue getting mine to eat. Unfortunately, he died a while back but I'm starting to think it was due to his diet. I was mainly feeding brine shrimp. All the fish gobbled it up but its not the best as far as nutrition goes.
Anyway, as far as the aiptasia goes, he didn't touch it for months and then I woke up one morning and half of them were gone. The rest were gone the next morning. No more aiptasia! And my tank was overrun!
