How many of you feed your Bubble tips?
If you are, how often?
I've fed mine 1 Krill 2 times so far 1-2 days apart and it seems happy.
No moving, always bubbled up, enjoying its spot.

I've been feeding mine mysis and krill alternating every couple days. feeding this much isn't really needed but I've been trying to really bulk it up for my new tank build. It's working

I currently have 2 E quadricolors (( along with 2 S. haddonis, and 1 M. doreensis )), haven't directly fed any of them in at least 2 years.

We feed ours every couple days - we have 8 BTAs and 5 rock flower anemones. They all take pieces of silverside immediately.

Feed mine every 3 days or so. They grow fast and split when feeding heavily. I started with two and now I have 9 in a little over a year.

that was my next question... so right now every 2-3 days i do 1 piece of krill....
if i want it to split should i do more or is this good?
Also, if it doesnt want to eat, will it not take it?
Currently it takes it pretty quick, i hold the krill by the bulbs and the bulbs close on it and pull it down into mouth...

I would say youre on a good schedule. I think they will take everything you give them, theyre opportunistic feeders. That doesnt necessarily mean theyre going to eat everything they grab. Ive had nems take food only to spit it out and then it just becomes a tank pollutant. My advice would be to keep your schedule and as it gets bigger you can ramp up the portion size. Theres no guarantee that it will split but Ive found that once they get to be about 8 inches with regular feedings they split.

oh well mine is about 3 inches open so I guess i have a way to go. Definitely do not want to stress it. Im happy it hasnt moved and is eating!
Now i have to figure out these acans....

I have a green bta. I cut full size shrimp into small pieces and feed every 3 days or so. Also give the left over mysis when feeding my acans.

I never target feed my bubble tips or any anemone for that matter. I have one that is a decent size with no bubbles and a smaller one that does bubble.

I came home and saw one of my shrimp molted and it was split into 2 parts.
Out of curiosity i wondered if the nem would eat it, picked up the molt and put it on the nem....
I didnt witness it but half of it was gone... so im pretty sure the nem ate it. The other half had the antenna and head and it was still there.

I think it would try to eat it but I dont think the molt would have much nutritional value and might do more harm than good.

I once went to a MACNA conference and saw someone who wrote a book
all about anemones, they too said to feed krill or silversides 2-3 times per week
-so I asked him- "how often in the wild do you think a krill or silverside would die and fall into an anemone"???
everyone laughed, he became red and embarrassed...
and shortly admitted that it probably wouldn't happen in its whole life- and he is just following what others have said...
-I have a thread coming up in "reef Myths" that explains more, but the occasional little chunk of krill (without the carapace- outer hard shell)
or a 1/5 chunk of silversides and the brine and Mysis shrimp would be more than what happens out in the wild...
-a note 1 krill is equal to 2-3 cubes of food (may be tripleing your load , trying to make an anemone happy
but may be ruining your water quality (something I found out the hard way 20 years ago...)

I don't feed my anemones fish food. If I want them to growth I feed them seafood that is for human consumption. Feed them spoiled food will kill them, especially the delicate anemones like Magnifica and Gigantea. Frozen smelly silverside likely kill a lot of anemone and the owner just put the death to whatever cause. Feeding silverside may not kill the anemone most of the time, but why take the chance.

I disagree with Neptunes Cove about feeding anemones. I have 10 hosting anemones in my system, about 500 gal total. I feed 1 and two at a time, not all of them. Now I like my anemone size so I don't spot feed them much anymore.
How many of us use flake food or frozen mysis, Nori in our tank? How many tangs will encounter nori in the wild? How many fish will eat flake food in the wild? We feed our fish substituted of what they eat in the wild. If we do a good job at it, then we have healthy colorful fish, if we don't then our fish is dull in color and unhealthy. Fresh unspoiled silverside is perfect anemone food, many of them eat fish in the wild. I just don't use them because there is too high chance of silverside been spoiled and kill my anemone.

That poor speaker could not think of a quick answer right on the spot does not mean that Neptunes Cove was right. I am sure 15 mins later, he wished that he could have the moment back and would have the perfect answer to Neptune's question on the spot. Many of us, myself included, who does not have quick wits, often get embarrassed on the spot but it does not mean that we are wrong.

Sorry for the long winded answer but feed him unspoiled seafood every 3rd (or more) days if you want him to growth or divided. Otherwise don't feed him if you are happy with his size.

i spot feed my bta's once a week alternating between mysis and krill. i go with small amounts. i don't feed more because it puts a heavy load on my tank. there are 21 bta's in my 50g duplex :)

i agree with some other posters about silversides. i have read too many negative reports to take the chance. i also agree with orionn about not feeding once they reach a desired size. that is why i don't spot feed my sebaes or lta. they clowns still give them their share though. lol
