Feeding of tank mates

I have snails, hermit crabs, two clown fish and 2 gobbies in my tank. Is there any way to tell when they are hungry? For the fish, I've been told (at least for the clown fish), give them as much as they can eat under 1 minute. Is this true? If so, would this also apply to the gobbies? I see the gobbies hanging outside, so I wonder if they are looking/waiting on food? Also, one of my gobbies ate my pistol shrimp. so I want to make sure they are getting fed enough. I've heard, feed them every other day, to 2-3 times per day. I have a 32 gallon tank, and have brine shrimp, floating pellets, and mysis shrimp.

I personally prefer to feed 3 times per day, every day, in different increments- small in the morning, big in the middle of the day, and then small again at night. I generally feed too much food, then have it go through my filter socks and I rinse those every 2 days.

They will always act like there hungry.. lol Just feed them a very small amount several times a day if possible, If a lot of food is hitting tank bottom your probably feeding to much at a time.

Once a day to twice a day should suffice. Spot feeding using a feeding tube with bulb may help keep the uneaten food down to a minimum.

Snails and crabs are scavengers, they will find food/algae anyway. Even spot feeding, there will be some food that get lost in the tank. They will find it.

The only question I have about spot feeding... is how do you feed them, when most likely sticking something in front of them will scare them off?

Fish and will get accustomed to the tube if there's food coming from it. Snails don't care. I wouldn't spot feed them.
