What are some things that you guys have done to get your fish to start eating pellets and flake foods?

Nearly all of my fish wait for that meaty mysis shrimp and avoid all things pellet and flake. I'd like to get them on some veggies for a change. Any ideas would be great.

2 cardinals and my yellow assessor spit out anything that isn't protein

It takes sometimes a few days till they eat something they don't care for. Feed only a small amount of the flake, for a couple days. Just the flake. They will eat it.

I mix feedings of dry foods and frozen, like Rod's, every other day for variety.

I personally feed my fish almost no pellets or flakes for nutritional reasons, especially flakes.

I find that when I run out of my mixed frozen medley my fish will eat anything. Some are picky, most eat whatever. I have the same jar of flakes that I had when I entered the hobby 12 years ago :D

If I try feeding only flake you don't think they'll starve it out and wait for their usual frozen?

A few days without food my guess is they take it ;)

Feed them a variety of frozen foods for a few weeks, then the fish will associate you with food and already accepting a variety. Then skip a day feeding and the next day try a little of the flakes or pellets. At this time they may still not eat it readily, but the next feeding they will accept it more.

Once a few fish start eating the dry food readily thwy will 'train' the others.
