Feeding Shrimp from the grocery store ?

OK this might sound crazy but I was in pet store and the guy told me you can feed marine fish shrimp from the grocery store if you soak it in clean it. Have any of you guys ever done this or is it just crazy? I know there’s preservatives and so on in shrimp so ......

Check out some diy fish food threads. You can feed your fish any saltwater fish you buy in the grocery store.

I toss in a mussel a couple times a week for the fish and crabs to eat. They pick clean in a few hours.

You can totally feed it. Look up DIY recipes on here. I went to the Asian market by my house and got stuff to make enough food to last me at least a year for about $30.

yep. i get the nasty eye from my shark and wrasses if theres not some shrimp going in daily.

Frozen is easiest as it mostly kills any pathogens, or buy fresh and freeze overnight to kill any pathogens.
You can use the bagged stuff. Just make sure it's raw/uncooked.
My wife bought me (or maybe it was for the fish) a Breville hand held processor to make my own fresh food mix.
I used to use prawns, shrimp, clams, squid and lots of different kinds of fish such as snapper and halibut.

Mix it up and your fish will love it, as long as they can fit the bits in their mouths, but some will spit it out.

Some smaller fish will not eat the chunky bits from shrimp/prawns, squid or similar items.
