Feeding star fish

Is this normal to hand feed star fish he comes to the top every night like this ? The first time he did it I dropped some pellets on him and he ate them up now he does it every night . I got to thinking maybe something is wrong with him but he eats and goes back down to the rocks any thoughts

I've had it happen at the pet store every now and then, he'd come up and I'd give him a silverside
