I purchased a white spotted toby puffer on Friday. It has yet to eat any frozen foods with me. It tried one piece of mysis and spit it back out, but has been disinterested otherwise.

I know it’s eating something in the tank because it’s belly is still pretty round, but obviously that can only last so long. What would he/she be eating anyway? Pods? Bristle worms?

Does anyone have an experience with these guys being difficult? What do you suggest trying?

I’m starting to feel anxious about it... exactly the opposite of what I wanted when I chose this fish haha

Do you put the nori on a clip or cut it up and throw it in the tank? And flakes in particular?
Use a clip and keep it towards top of tank. Ours also likes to be hand fed too. He will come right to top of tank to eat. Super smart fish, knows when food is coming every time.

Try some snails small in size, live ghost shrimp, strips of squid 1/2” long 1/4” wide and blood worms frozen

I’m going to stop by the grocery store and grab some nori today. Hopefully he’ll go for it! He’s still too shy to eat out of my hand, but I’m hoping he’ll get there!

I’ve tried bloodworms, so far no luck :(
I’m going to stop by the grocery store today and grab some table shrimp. I’ll also look for squid and maybe clam. I’m hoping I won’t have to feed live shrimps since that’ll become a hassle, but will resort to that if I have to.

I salvaged/rescued a Figure Eight puffer from brackish water at lfs. Acclimated him about 6 hours into saltwater about a year ago he is doing great loves the squid, brine shrimp, bloodworms, small snails for his teeth and ghost shrimp
