Feeding valentini puffer

Hi, I've had a valentini puffer for about one year now and normally feed it and the rest of my fish Rods herbivore frozen.
It occurred to me that perhaps I should be feeding it clams or some hard shelled food to wear down its teeth.
How do I feed something like a clam? Just buy one from the food store and toss it in?
A,little advice please.

I have only done half shelled clams though but tossed them in frozen. You can try and see if he pry's open a store clam or mussel. It might entertain him lol

I have had one for about 4 years, its teeth have grown some but had stayed about the same for a long while. I throw in a mussel or a clam once a week and it and the rest fish love them.
