@Big G I would like to add Beta Glucan to my feeding regime. I have the capsules that Big G uses. I will be feeding mostly PE Mysis, Live black worms and algae sheets. I will keep the PE Mysis thawed in a shot glass in the fridge which will last 3 or 4 days. How much Beta Glucan would I want to add to say one cube of PE Mysis? Should I use a binder or just mix it in the shot glass with the PE Mysis? Thanks.

Hello!
I usually mix a 1/2 capsule with 6-8 thawed frozen cubes of assorted foods: mysis, brine, chopped clams, eggs, cyclops, coral mix, etc. Strain the excess liquid from the cubes, it will spike your nitrates and phosphates. Mix with the BG, can add a bit of RODI water until you get the desired consistency. Sometimes I add Focus to bind it all together better; sometimes not. If I am trying to spot feed a particular fish, then mixing with Focus really helps concentrate the food/BG mix right to the fish. Much like you would with meds for a sick fish.

What do you hope it accomplishes?
Hey Randy,

There's been quite a bit of observation from members here and elsewhere, I would say are reputable sources, regarding Beta Glucan helping to boost a fishes immune system. As for my situation, I have a filefish that has had a growth on his head above one of his eyes for over three months. I assumed it was just Lympho as he has had that from time to time over the last six years. But it usually takes care of itself within a month. It grew to the size it is in a few weeks and has stayed that size for over three months. I am placing him in a QT and going to treat with NFG for 10-14 days in case it is bacterial. But I plan on hitting him with the Beta Glucan as well as no harm can come of it and it might just help him.

Thanks. I'll reduce the amount by half and use three cubes with Focus.

Hello,
I first came across Beta Glucan in literature regards to the pen raised salmon & steelhead here in the Pacific Northwest. Antibiotics were failing and tremendous die-offs were happening. The industry turned to other products to save the industry. Beta Glucan has performed well. So fast forward and then I found the following article and others also using BG. So when I had a foxface with lympho that I could not seem to get rid of with the usual treatment for the condition, I tried BG. The fish cleared up of lympho and has stayed clear for months.

Thanks for the info. Glad it seemed to help!
