I mix reef roids and reef chili together and target feed most of the zoas, once or twice per week.

I mix just reef roids and feed all my corals every other day most of the time. Might be a little much though.

There are periods of time where I don't feed for a couple weeks at a time. The only difference would be slower growth in my experience.

I've grown some pretty dense paly/ zoa gardens and tried a lot of stuff.

First rule is that zoas/palys need to be in excellent health before we start adding nutrients. They dont eat or grow if unhappy and partially closed. Fix that problem first. Otherwise you end up feeding the nuisance algae that's bothering your zoas/palys. I only feed when I see long skirts and good health.

I've tried all the commercial foods and found just plain meat protein works as good as anything. Beef heart in a blender once a week. Dump it in tank. This wont work if you have smaller colonies in a big tank, and obviously you need to target feed there. For my smaller tanks full of baseball sized colonies though the beef heart milk shake is my choice and growth acceleration is obvious. I feed as much as nitrate stays around 10ppm or so.

Some palys like nuclear greens or purple deaths or my rare frost greens will eat directly like Lps.

Turn off the pumps and target fed them dry food particles (hydrated, of course!) over their mouths. Take your time and enjoy!! Wait for them to close and turn the pumps back on. Polyp Lab's Reef Roids, Coral Frenzy, some soft coral food pellets, etc... They will eat most of those types of coral food, generally speaking. It's good for them. Feed every other week or once a month. I'm assuming you already have the best light system you can afford and you aren't trying to remedy a deficiency. That way they will use the additional nutrient offered as an extra energy and the will grow/reproduce faster. It could also contribute with coloration to some extent. Do not deceive yourself thinking that the more food you give them the better it will be. They have their limits in many senses!! That will work against your goals! You don't need to offer too much!

I don't have any problems, in fact the few polyps i have look really good. I was just wondering for a bit down the road perhaps. I may give each polyp a teeny tiny bit of food in the next couple of days (Reef Roids mixed into a thick-ish slurry).
