FEEDING

I usually provide one decent meal a day for the fish and some of the corals like my Bubble, Lobophyllia etc get some live black worms once every 2 weeks or so. The rest of the corals seem to get by with just fish poop and the occasional detritus storm every now & then.

I feed the clowns in my display once a day. The lyretail anthias that I have in quarantine I feed 2-3 times a day.

I made a rookie mistake and did the opposite of what most people do - I fed too little! I'm new to using frozen foods and was feeding only 2 clowns. I read all the warnings about not feeding too much. Well with only 2 small clowns I took that warning to an extreme. I fed a very small portion of a frozen miss cube once per day. I started noticing their fins were not looking good and they were developing some strange marks. Initially I was thinking some kind of disease. As I observed more closely I noticed during feedings they actually don't eat everything I put in the tank (picky clowns I guess) and I wasn't putting in that much food to begin with. I soon realized I wasn't feeding enough. Luckily I noticed this early. I purchased another type of food and now feed twice a day of each. I put in a "reasonable" amount each time and I'm happy to say they both look completely back to normal and better than ever!

So for all the newbies out there, be careful you don't feed too little either!

I like to feed 3 to 4 times a day and sometimes 5 times. I feed a larger portion in the morning and at night and usually drop in a few pellets throughout the day every few hours. I have a Moorish Idol and I have noticed that if I do not do this then his streamer begins to recede. Certain types of fish need more frequent feedings and it also depends on what you have in your tank for them to graze on. I decided to go overkill on my filtration and do frequent water changes because I want my fish to be healthy. I also like to use high quality food and soak it in selcon once a day.

I do 3-5 feedings a day. I have an auto feeder go off 2x's a day while I am at work and when I get home I try to feed a small amount every hr - hr 1/2.
