I feed 2-3 times daily my tank.
What I did and what helped me tremendously was before I set up my tank, did lots off research on what I wanted to keep as livestock and what needs and what would benifit or hinder my livestock ,stuff like feeding, flow, amount off rock, sand, caves, under hangs, over hangs, lights, filtration and stuff like this.
Reason I did this was as if have a plan set up before commencing then is much easier to run the tank, and when researching the basics,I then came across possible problems so then when they start to happen or have happenned,it's easier to notice or to remedy problem quicker etc.
I found using search option on r2r a great thing and choose something I was interested in then read that thread then went to bottom off page and picked another thread and kept reading a few a day on all kinds off things then my knowledge grew quickly.
Reason I feed 2-4 times a day ( each feeding what the fish can eat in couple off minutes) is because bought a copperband butterfly fish and read/researched they can be finnicky eaters so decided to feed clams/oysters and the like and feed often but little as its biggish fish and very active so use tweezers to hand target feed the cbb and what he pulls off and doesnt get the other fish get and I feel /think fish appreciate the clams/shellfish more than dry food or frozen cube food.
Btw not being arsey saying do research and making out you know nothing as that's not Reason why wrote above,I just believe doing lots off research and having plan is best approach ,worked wonders for me anyway ,still had problems and the like ( mainly coral pests) but that's another story ha ha.
Anyway good luck and hope you and your family get great enjoyment from your tank
