i have three yellow tangs with these bumps that look very velvet like but this is him after a good 6 minutes freshwater dip. if its velvet would it have come off? some white stuff did. not flukes, much smaller i would guess...but not all. tons of bumps that are yellow all over him as well as some white on the fins. i feel so clueless...could this be bacteria? i noticed a bump on one of them along the lateral line 2 days ago and he lost some color at the time. i tried to do freshwater then and nothing came off...so i have no idea. gram negative bacteria or velvet (panic)?

It looks like the beginning to velvet to me. Freshwater dips will help the fish a little bit, but very likely you wont see the parasites fall off the fish. @HotRocks
Get them over to qt asap

is there a way i can post a video??? he kind of has this black thing stuck on his fin. you can see it in the top photo.

You can upload a video to YouTube and post the link here. What meds do you have on hand? If it's velvet you will need to act quickly (it kind of looks like velvet to me also)

If velvet is the confirmation (hard to see but I would presume it is) you need to start copper treatment ASAP. If not they will be dead in a few days

ok, copper power i have. so i'll put them again in qt. they were in a two week qt already in copper power but not sure that i did it right if this is happening. i used a hanna checker...about 2.2 levels. i'll have to do it 30 days this time. so velvet doesn't always kill within 12 hrs? i for some reason thought it was much quicker...

I’ve had a few fish with velvet for over a month. If they are healthy besides that they can live quite awhile. This looks more like ich than velvet to me, maybe there’s something I’m not seeing in the pic.
