I have never seen this happening. Basically, I got a pair of clowns almost 1 month ago and they are a bonded pair before I bought them. They were doing fine the whole time in my tank, but now I notice the female tore the male’s dorsal fin and he’s hiding in a corner right now. Is this a normal behavior or should I do something about it?

Probably normal. Clownfish are jerks, and they are probably deciding eho is the female. Is one bigger than the other? Or are both the same size?

What kind of clownfish?

They are actually similar in size, not much difference to tell and they are ocellaris.

How big are they? Are they juveniles? If they are older, you could have two females and they will fight to the death. If not, monitor, and if it gets worse, pull one out and rehome

They are deciding who is the more dominant, he who wins will be SHE.

They are about 1 and a half inch. Yes, they are juveniles. Ok, I will keep observing them.

Yupppp totally normal lol. I just finished my new breeding system and transferred all my pairs over. On pair that has been together for YEARS we’re going at it last night. The female was just re establishing herself as the queen lol. They’re totally fine now a day later.

That gave me some relief haha. I will give you guys an update tomorrow if they are doing good.

Well today, my clownfish acted like nothing happened yesterday and went back to normal routine. They really are weird and gave me quite a scare lol.

Why do you think the were named Clowns? lol

My clowns finally sexed our and the female is still a brat. If the male comes to the glass first she will grab his caudal, drag him back some and then come rushing to me lol.
