I've got what I believe is fern caulerpa from my fuge becoming a nuisance in my display. Tangs show no interest in it, sea hares don't seem to live long enough to eradicate it. I'm thinking my only option is a black out. I had a mixture of grape caulerpa, fern caulerpa, and chaeto in my fuge, the fuge light went out for a week or so until I was able to get it back on and the fern had all died in the fuge and left the grape and chaeto. I like the grape because I feed it to my spotted rabbit fish, however if it is an issue I will have to set up something to grow it then and only use chaeto in the fuge.
Back on topic, those of you that have successfully eradicated fern caulerpa how did you end up getting rid of it? I'm tempted to just take the loss and lose all the palys that it has intertwined with and remove the rocks it's attached to. However I would end up losing WWC candy apple pinks, emeralds on fire, CB rainbow infusions, as well as a few more. The rabbit fish is in another tank I have otherwise i wouldn't have this issue

Only thing that ever worked for me was to just keep pulling it. I found no way to eliminate caulerpa once it gets into your DT.

Even after removing every rock and cleaning the whole tank, Caulerpa racemosa came back again. It can be very hard tio remove.

Then I got a one-spot foxface and the problem was solved. He loved to eat it. :)

I would move my rabbit fish over, only problem is he is 8" long and the tank isn't big enough for him. I have thought about pulling the affected pieces out and putting them in the tank he is in and peroxide dipping my affected zoas. I don't think he'll be able to pick through the polyps without eating them too. I have read long spine urchins will eat this stuff.

We have documented prob 20 tank wide caulerpa cures with peroxide if that helps. Naturally we'd need to take your nontarget refugium offline during work, but don't throw anything out peroxide does well here and has already been detailed

I will look more into peroxide. Is this something I would be dosing? I have only heard of using peroxide diluted for dipping to get rid of nuisance algae
