My fiance put saltwater into my ATO container. Long story short, it was a couple days before I noticed because I got a shipment of corals in and acclimated them...and ALL of them began to recede within a few hours. I have since replaced the saltwater with freshwater, but how can I:

1. Stop the damage from progressing ASAP
2. How do I go about re-adjusting the salinity so that I can attempt to salvage what I can.

do you have fish and coral in the tank now

salinity currently? I would not do the change fast ex: you have auto top off keep it fresh RO/DI top off. if you have a 40 gallon tank and you auto top off 1 gallon a day you could remove 1/2 a gallon of display tank water extra daily to do a slow adjustment. alternatively if you wanna go the faster. quarantine the fish and coral in a separate thank acclimating them to the qt tank adjust the water in display re-acclimate and return to display. could be risky if you shock the fish/ make the adjustments to fast. anyone have any better ideas

Salinity is 1.031. It's a 90 with a bunch of fish and a few other corals that are doing fine weirdly enough

Simple solution.. you should have an idea of how much per day your tank Evans based off your auto top off.

Drain that much water from tank and replace with fresh water.. give 24 hours to balance and if it’s still off deviant or add as needed..

The first initial drain and fresh top will get you out of danger zone.. then you have time to work the minor details out and get back to business..if for some reason you don’t know your top of rate.. do a 30% water change and it will reset everything.
