Ok 2 month ago I purchased a huge fighting conch. About a month ago I stopped seeing him. He was very active. Usually I can see at least it's little snorkel above the sand. Nothing for a long time. Since he was very large (3-4 inch) do I need to use my long reaches and go searching. I really don't wanna stir the sand.
So
Do I wait it out? See if he shows up. Potentially letting a huge dead animal rot in my tank
Do I search for his dead body in the sand Potentially stirring up all kinds of bad stuff into my display and new corals?

I had two large ones also. They did that from time to time. Until an electric hermit crab decided to over compensate and kill them for the shell then realizing he can't navigate with that big of a shell he went back to his previous one.

I wouldn't bother stirring stuff up. You know how critters can be maybe he'll show up 6 months from now!

And even if it has expired, I'm sure the rest of your CUC has eaten it. No need to worry about anything decaying in the tank, that would actually cause an issue in a tank your size.

My fighting conch that I had would hide for a month or three at a time. I wouldn't worry about them. :)
