Hey everyone,

Besides being probably one of the cutest snails ive seen so far, would i benefit from adding one of these guys to my clean up crew?

I've managed to gain some control on hair algae on the sand bed, but slowly it keeps popping up in places...not a big deal...but will these guys feast on some of that?

Also, my sand bed is only absolutely 1 inch deep in areas. Don't really have a deep deep sand bed.

Ideally, they should have enough sand to burrow down and completely cover themselves although I see them all the time in tanks with 1" sand depth and they seem to do fine. When they burrow I imagine it is a feeding behavior more than anything else. You might want to mound some sand up in a corner, etc., just to ensure they have such a place.

They'll eat the algae, film etc. from your glass (one of mine climbed up almost 4" to feed) as well as detritus, algae, etc. in sand bed. If you think there is not enough food available, they will take nori or spinach.

Fascinating animals and a great addition to your cuc.

I have an area at the back of the tank where a clownfish kinda burrowed a bunch of sand (now hosting on my Lobo). So there is one area of thick sand bed. Awesome little guys. Who knew a snail could make life so enjoyable lol

And delicious in a ceviche or fritters.... well not this particular species but.... intend on grabbing one in the future too, very valuable as part of the CUC.

They are great for diatoms. I have just one in my 6ft and he runs laps keeping the sand(top layer at least) clean.
Looking at your tank, u need deeper sand bed.
You will benefit from trochus snails or a small urchin much more

Ahhhh...there's lots of space for the thing to burrow in the back...it just has to find it lol

I see you need a critter to take care of your rockwork. These guys are not so good at rock climbing. You will benefit greatly from trochus or turbo snails.they can climb any surface and clean up ur rocks very effectively.

Mine does great with less than an inch sand bed, it occasionally makes trips to the top of the rock work knocking everything over in its path. My sand is whiter than ever, you will be amazed at how much they can eat in a 24 hour period.

I cant wait. We are currently in the middle of a snow storm and im very tempted to make the drive to get it. But, imma be responsible and wait until tomorrow lol
