And so the story begins.. this has been my first shot at a reef and boy has it had its ups and downs lol (like 13 MO in).. the problem in our fairy tale begins when a certain someone ran gfo to the point of bottoming out p04.. months ago..after getting nutrients back in place and using microbacter 7, big water changes, and phytoplankton (did it help..? I dunno know) I was on the absolute verge of beating it with the tiniest patch left. Fast forward 3 months and it's like im back to where I started. So after going crazy I decided huh it's been awhile since I check the tds of my freshwater.. which has been coming from a local store which last time I checked (roughly maybe 6 mo ago) was at 0 tds.. well as of today the water I was about to use measured 47 tds.. and my ato bucket? 5567..!? That's right 5,000... leaching @#!$%*@.. Time to buy the rodi.. in need of some guidance there, my tap comes out at 111 tds, what stage rodi would you recommend? Is there such a thing as overkill when it comes to rodi?
I'm frustrated, but also so happy to have gotten to the root of this.. thats what I get for taking anything for granted in this hobby.. dumb@#$ lol.. so.. now I need your help? How can I get this beat without chemicals.. Im avoid them at all all all costs if possible.. I've gotten a bit of a handle on it but it's still gonna be a tough fight.. im still not positive it's only cyano I'm fighting as part of me fears (more like doesn't want to admit they're diatoms) I assume this because of the way the re-establish during the day with the light on.. I'd also like to avoid the blackout method it possible..
im going to update the post with photos of the crime scene as well as parameters when I get back home (p.s. in the case my title isn't bold can someone explain how I do that.. total noob..lol)
