I just picked up two baby Percula clownfish yesterday and they swam right into my RBTA this morning one of them loves to stay in the Nem and the other one swims outside of the Nem but when the clown thats outside the Nem tries to come back in the other clown picks at him and they swim in circles and he goes back out. if that makes sense to anybody.

I just bought two clowns and they do the same thing. One stays in the territory and the other is out on patrol. I believe it is normal pairing behavior, with a dominant female and less dominant male.

phew so im not the only one. i haven't noticed fins missing yet but im hoping they are just getting adjusted and becoming a pair.

Are they both the same size? I've paired 3 sets of clowns so far and I've always started with one bigger than the other. Is sounds like normal behavior though, you'll just have to let them work it out. Currently, I have a pair of saddlebacks and the female gets the anemone whenever she wants. The male will duck into the nem when the female is out and about.

one of them is just a hair bigger. So im hoping they will all just work it out. Fingers crossed

When they are pairing, the male can get a little beat up with some tattered fins. I've just let them go and never had one die. I've read the female can kill the male, but I haven't had it happen.

okay so eventually they will work it out and then become a pair and swim in the Nem together

I’m not gonna lie, that female is a bit aggressive with that male, more so than other cases I’ve seen. Typically they’ll sort things out though. It may be a few weeks before they truly “pair”. Right now they’re just two clowns fighting over the same territory.
