I picked up this green haddoni at the local box store(couldnt resist the price and looked healthy) last Friday.I took the Green BTA out that the tomato pair had been hosting for months and replaced it with this guy hoping they would jump right in.They are keeping their distance so far.I know they are not naturally compatible but had hopes. My question is since they had no problems jumping in the BTA and now wont have anything to do with the carpet should I keep out hope or give up and swap them for a pair of clarkii? The nem was in a tank full of clarkii at the store and the employee had to shake them out of it to get it for me.

Second question...at night the tentacles all relax and extend.when lights come on they contract tightly and stay that way all during lights on.the nem expands fully just keeps its tents tight to the body as you can see in the pic.tank is a solana 20 inches deep and lighting is a nova extreme pro 6x18w with trulumen bulbs 3 blue 2 white and one pink.tank is 9 months old but all rock and sand etc came from a year old oceanic cube prior to this tank as did the clowns.is it just getting accustomed to the new tank/lighting?it did expel a fair amount of zooxanthallae(maybe a half ounce-ish) about three days in but hasnt since and mouth has been staying nice and tight. It hasn't deflated once since it went in the tank.

bump...anybody?been a few days and they still don't acknowledge its existence.I know it sometimes takes a while but these guys came straight from hosting a bubble tip so I assumed that if they were going to they would have by now.

Since your clowns are naturally hosted by an E. quadricolor, and not an S. haddoni, it is going to take some time. Just let nature take its course, and you should be fine. This was one of my first clown/anemone combos.

As for the anemone, what lights was it under at the LFS?
Have you been acclimating it to your lights?

I am assuming they had it under t8's but cannot say for certain. It had just come in that day and I have no idea what lights it was under at the suppliers.I did not really light acclimate and possibly should have.I figured the nova fixture being less than ideal as far as performance goes wouldnt be too much light even for a new anemone.Like I said the anemone itself is expanding fully but the tentacles are staying tight.

Sunday morning through evening and into Monday the anemone had deflated to about half size but was still stretching out.The mouth was not gaping at all but I am seeing white where it should be brown if you take my meaning.you can see it a bit in the pic...the mouth itself is opening enough for a bit of stomach(?) to be exposed...does that sound right? It has since expanded back to the size it is in the pics now and it did not look so much like a deflation as it did just shrinking a bit.it did not pancake or look distressed at all just not as expanded as it had been the day before.still seeing a bit of white in the mouth.

By the way I have checked parameters several times and everything looks good:

amm 0
nitrites 0
ph 8.4
alk 8.0
salinity 1.25
