Fiji cube 81 ext upgrade

Well finally will be making some progress this week. The electrician will be coming this week to get my dedicated outlet ran. Will be re arranging the living room this weekend. Starting to feel like it's about to happen.

I have made some decisions as far as equipment over the last few days as well. First off I'll be using a 2ft illumagic blaze x with their 2 ft light bar. For skimmer I still plan on the dalua gw 5.
2 nero 3s for the back wall. Think I have decided on a lid from reefing ain't easy.

Super excited to make some more head way in the next couple weeks

So I ordered the lights yesterday from unique corals. Shipping shows early next week they should be here. Electric should be done this week. Once the lights are in I'll order my lid. Spoke with my lfs they are coming out to help get the tank in place and do the initial fill up so I don't have to make 100 gallons of rodi. Planning on getting the cycle started by end of next week.

Got my power strip placement sorted out today. Also started on my rock work will get it finished this weekend. Led lights are installed in cabinet. Lfs is coming next Wednesday to help with getting it inside and filled up for the first time.

Rock work complete. It's cemented together in 5 sections that should be fairly easy to move into the tank.

Following! This is a tank I’d like to upgrade to in the future so I’m looking forward to seeing how it turns out!

Do it. Great tank and build quality. Fiji cube is very under rated in my opinion.

Couple more pictures now that it has cleared up a bit.

Ammonia and bacteria are in. Now we wait. Planning on adding a couple mollies next week when the cycle is done. The lid is going to be a couple weeks so it will be a struggle to not put any other fish in until then.

Got my hands on a par meter today. Very happy with the spread and par of these illumagic blaze leds. Cycle is still trucking along 3ppm ammonia .25 nitrites 0 nitrates. First picture is 12" off water surface second is 10", both readings were taken with return pump and power heads as they will be once corals are in. All points were jumping around +/- 10 or so par. By Should be good enough for lps and a clam or 2.

Update on cycle.
Ammonia 1ppm
Nitrites .5
Nitrates 10

Getting close couple more days. Debating on if I want 3-5 mollies or 3-5 chromis.

Go with chromis, I think mollies always made tanks look freshwater ;)

Only reason I was considering mollies was because I have heard they are amazing grazers for algae and other unwanted stuff in the early stages of a tank.

Cycle is still moving along. Ammonia is now gone nitrates 30-40 ish. Nitrites are sky high. I did have to clean the glass last night starting to get diatoms.

The ato container is probably going to be replaced at some point. Nothing wrong with it holds enough water for4-6 days. I do however use more ro during the winter here in VA so looking into building a new ro container in the next few days.

Also since the great white 5 skimmer is sold out everywhere with no expected stock until November I started looking at other options. Found a RO regal 150 internal on a local page from a tank break down for a great price. Should be picking it up this weekend.

Sounds great, if you already decided on skimmer fine, but just thought id tell you, I picked up NYOS 120, and it is incredible. Maybe you should consider a NYOS. BTW, how in the hell do you get rid of Diatoms? or do you just have to ride the wave out?

I was looking at the nyos but I am planning on alot of lps and fish and its only rated for 75 gallons at high bio load. That's why I was wanting the RO its rated up to 100 at heavy my system is 95 gallons total.
As far as diatoms I wipe them off the glass and let them be

Picked up the skimmer this morning. It's in great shape only ran for a month or two. I was worried it was going to be a super tight fit but it fits well. Just waiting on cycle to finish and my lid to come in. Plan on getting 6 chromis once my cycle is done. This morning ammonia was 0 nitrites were 1 nitrates 50.

That sounds like your cycle is done
