I recently got a file fish and add to my aquarium for about 5 days now and will not eat. I have fed him Mysis shrimp, tried pellets, krill ect. I am worried now because its been almost a week and he hasn't eaten anything to my knowledge. He seems to be doing great swimming around and all I just want to see him eat.

they don't really eat those, they eat algae, coralline algae, sponges, etc. As well as some inverts and pods

Have you tried mastic? It's made of several things but the main ingredient is sps corals which is their natural food. That's what got mine eating...They love it. Not cheap, but you can get it from BRS.

Try GSP, zoa's, clove polyps, and pulsing zenia. Mine devoured those, especially the pulsing zenia. It also ate everything I fed the tank.

I have not. I am going to try it I had to take all my scans out of my tank because he started eating them and I didn’t want them to die…

The file has been eating my scans now I’m not sure what to do I removed them from my tank now they’re just sitting in my quarantine tank being useless …

I'd try putting a frag of pulsing zenia in there. I kept getting free small colonies from a LFS. I put them in the back and within a week it was picked clean, kept it off the zoa's some.

try algae on a clip. No matter how much mine eats he always has room for that. Also don’t rule out that it is just grazing

And yes they are Black Death to xenia
