Hi there,

i am starting to see apitasia in my tank, just one for now, but want it to be under control from now, i m planning to get a file fish, my doubt, is it reef safe? i hv zoas, hammers, tourches, toadstol and few leather corals, will these corals be safe n not harmed by the file fish? in addition i hv two cleaner shrimps in the tank. Will it be the right move to get the File fish?

Some file fish are model citizens thier whole lives others take a liking to corals. It has to be your decision if you want to risk it or use the fish than rehome it. Good luck.

We had a file fish and it wiped out the aiptasia and then started to dine on some zoas. It got moved to another tank where it proceeded to wipe out all the bubble algae in that tank.

Wouldn't risk putting in a file fish just for one aip - really not worth it. It will turn on your corals not of matter of if but when. If it's just the one and you are able the rock I would just remove it by hand and make sure to wash it over with tank water. Oh yeah and they're ugly fishes.
