File fish

Hey. I am currently restocking my 32 gallon. I love the way file fish swim. I don't have an aptasia issue I just really like the fish. Anyway I was wondering if there is anything I should know, advice? etc...My tank is rimless btw. I haven't seen anything about them jumping but I do worry about that with any fish. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Had one and love it!! when trying to get it did jump out of tank but not sure if would do it unprovoked. If you plan on getting corals don’t get it. It went rogue and ate several of my corals.

Thanks! Yeah that's my only concern. I do plan on having corals. I've heard mixed things on them with nipping at soft corals. I just love the way they swim. Aren't a lot of options for fish that swim that way in a smaller tank.

My filefish only bothers meaty corals like scolys and lobos. Doesn't bother anything else.

I have 2 matted filefish in a 125 with lots of coral. I've never seen any sign of damage to the coral, but I suspect they're annoying my acans. I've heard they tend to be shy, but mine always come to see me when I approach the tank.

One more thing. It took awhile before they got interested, but they've cleared the tank of aptaisia. Love these guys!

They will bury their snouts in a corner for an hour if stressed, so don't sweat this.
