I think I've found the reason my Acan colonies have been retracted over the last week. I was beginning to come to my wits end after different acan colonies started to become affected and my water parameters were good.

Had a large Aiptasia outbreak a while back and had purchased a Matted Filefish after all other attempts failed. Put him in the tank about 2 months ago and slowly but surely the aiptasia disappeared from view.

That being said, I just watched my filefish nip at two Acan Colonies in front of my eyes.

In your experience, once they have a taste for it is there no going back? Kind of nervous to get rid of him and have aiptasia come back. I guess its a battle of Acans V Aptasia lol.

Unfortunately I don’t think he will stop nipping at your Acans.

It's very rare a fish loses it's taste for a food source.

That said, it's only nipping right now, and not full-devouring. I would suggest moving the Acan colonies to another part of the tank and see if that helps any. If not, time for a fish trap.
