Would i be safe to add a small filefish in my 29g for aptasia controll, dont have alot but they seem to pop up from time to time. My sixline is not that agressive only sometimes goes after the rainford goby
Currently have 1 clown
1 sixline
1 firefish
1rainford goby
1 lawnmower blenny
2 cleaner shrimp
I am willing to get rid of the sixline for a safer wrasse

I have a pair of white spotted pygmy filefish in a 48 gallon with several wrasses. I haven't seen any of the fish pick on the filefish.

I don't have any aiptasia in that tank, but I do in others. So can't attest to the fact filefish eat aiptasia.

The thing is i was wondering if it would be too much livestock in my reef. I have a skimmer and do weekly water changes. My nitrate stays at 1ppm and phos stays at .03ppm. The rainford just stays in its burrow all day so i dont really consider it “there” comes out only to eat. Like the shrimp have a minimal bioload.

That should be ok, if you plan on getting getting rid of the wrasse you could try a bergia nudibranch.

I don't think you will have a problem in an established tank. It sounds like you have a handle on nutrients. The pygmies stay relatively small.

Rainford gobies are active fish that eat all day. If he is hiding in a borrow it is because he is afraid to come out and won't live long so you need to choose between the 6-line and the rainfords.
