I shipped a skimmer back in Feb. The post office lost the package. I filed a claim - which is a pain in its own right. I STILL haven't got the money that they owe me for it. I of course paid the guy that I sold it to.
I will NEVER ship anything through the post office if I sell it online, or if I have to insure it for any reason. I will stick to UPS or Fed-ex.
I just thought I would throw that out there since I just got off the phone with the post office for hopefully the last time.
They say the check is on its way......I'll believe it when I cash it.....

Good luck Chad. I lost out on a broken H&S over 18 months ago and the claim got lost twice :(

I find the ONLY way to get anything out of them is to be up the butt of every person you talk to over there. They are counting on you to just give up. take down every name every time and conversation. and make it be known you are doing so.

Good luck with your claim. I filed two claims last year about $2k worth of live stock. Both claims took about 6 months to process and both were rejected eventually. The reason is that I was not suppose to ship livestock through USPS at the first place, so the insurance don't apply.

Did you buy insurance ? The USPS will not pay if you don't purchase insurance.

Unlike UPS or Fedex, they had $ 100 coverage automatically once you ship the package.

Yeah I bought insurance, have all the receipts. There isn't much they can do since they lost it. The lady also said today that since it was in adjudication for over a month she sent them a message to take care of it already.
I have ANOTHER claim for a skimmer that was broke during shipping. Whodah? had to go to the post office and give them the skimmer so that it wouldn't be shipped again - or so they said. So that is another one. Full paperwork and insurance on all items with receipts.
I'll be on the phone everday if I have to - I'll get my money - its just so much of a pain that I'll never ship anything through them again unless I absolutely have to.
The funny thing is I have a Fed-ex account and they will come pick stuff up and all that. (I set it up when I got rid of some household junk through ebay) I hadn't been on it for a while and figured the post office would be easy enough since it is right up the street.
Lesson learned......

you promised your wife a check that will never come (or atleast take forever to come)
lol i'm telling j/k

She knows the drill.....

haha mine to. here is how it goes every year around tax time

"oo honey if you let me by this tv or whatever you can have the whole tax check when it comes."

tax check comes

"oh darn did i spend that already, my bad. lol"

theres always next year right ?

Sad thing is YOU have to be the biggest a$$h0le in order to get stuff done with USPS. I do mean for real... you have to be as rude as possible or they generally dont do anything.

it always worth the $10-$30 to ship with fedex or ups.

Not necessarily, I just had UPS deliver a package a couple of days late, their reasoning....they couldn't find the apartment even though I sent something to the exact address 2 weeks ago. And they do not cover livestock either so I am stuck sucking up the loss. I believe FedEx has the same policy as they will not cover livestock that is lost or held up in shipment because special permits are required to mail that type of stuff. By far I have had the best luck with FedEx as far as delivery goes, in 7 years of shipping stuff they have only lost packages twice, and both times they were found within a day. I used to work for the USPS so I have seen how packages are handled in the processing center, I would never use them for shipping unless someone requested them.

This is interesting.
I'm in the middle of dealing with USPS right now over a skimmer that I shipped through them and they cracked it in transit.
I did purchase insurance through them for it.

It still amazes me that people ship livestock via USPS.

It was 2 skimmers for me with the USPS thing.

I use Fed-ex for livestock.
That way I can drop it off right before they close.

Well I got a call back from the lady today - she said the claim was approved and the check is on its way. That was pretty cool that she gave me a courtesy call back to let me know.

i would be very carful shipping fedex atm they are busting down routes at an amazing pace
they are shutting down buildings all over
thus holding trailers and palnes till they are full as possible
i wouldnt want my live stock sitting on a trailer that used to go out at 80 percent waiting 3 hours to be 100 percent
i wish the economy would pick back up and solve all the freight problems

Glad to see you get this resolved. I had a clain though DHL and it was a nightmare. Even with insurance they were only willing to pay half and it took over 5 months.
