Filling out the tank with corals

I want to fill out the empty spaces with more corals, but I feel a little stuck on what else to add. I only have soft and lps corals right now, and I’m looking to add more movement. I was thinking of Xenia, because the rock work looks “bald” and maybe something that spreads will be good, but I was thinking maybe I’ll regret it in about 2 years when the whole tank is just xenias.

What corals do you recommend to fill out spaces that also give movement?

Take your time -- Real estate is worth more than gold, and if you jam in every low priced impulse buy you can, you're going to seriously regret it sooner or later.

Look at the coral forum show off threads, look at what really turns your head and plan to get ONE of them. Let that do it's thing for a lil bit, like a month, and keep looking at those coral show off threads. Try to limit yourself to one or two per month, and be very mindful of how they grow (for example, you may put a fast growing zoa on prime real-estate, and not be able to remove it when you want another coral in it's place)

Xenia grow like weeds. You’ll end up either loving or regretting I️t. It’ll take up almost all extra space if you let I️t though[emoji23]

Take your time and enjoy this part of the Tanks life.

I prefer movement and virtually all my corals when I started, and now, are LPS/soft corals and anything that, well, moves.

Visit your LFS and pick a few corals you like (then leave quickly! Lol). Then go again the next week and enjoy picking up a few more of your favourites and keep doing this until your tank is full or you run out of money....

Oh and Xenia. It’s a beautiful coral providing great movement in the tank. But we warned, it’s very invasive and can be a pain in the bottom if it spreads were you don’t want it to. Maybe attach it to a piece of rock that can be moved if you need to before it spreads to much.

I've only had my tank about a year and I am out of real estate... only buy after you know you want it. I have a couple corals I wish I had skipped. My xenia stays on it's island for now but that's one of them. The others are:
a euphillia that I just traded in, zoas that I'm having to rip off the rock to contain them, and a war coral that kills stuff within 2" of it's personal space bubble.
Ones that I thoroughly enjoy the most are :
my trumpet/candy cane I love to watch it's feeding responseand it's among the brightest coral in the tank and maybe the cheapest (freebie thrown in cause it had broken off it's plug), cyphastrea the polyps on it are the cutest. I like my brain coral, it's got a great feeding response. And my colored sticks they add a different texture to the tank and are brightly colored. I counted the other day and I have 27 different corals. I can't name them all but I wish I had more rock to put them on.
