Film Substance in Reefmat Chamber

Hello, I just set up my new sump and reefmat (RedSea 500). However, after about a week, I noticed the water movement is nonexistent (Pretty Still). I also noticed a film-like substance starting to form on the top layer. I currently have my COR 20 set to 30% (108gal) Synergy 34 Sump. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Could you share an image or two? It sounds like you either don't have enough flow or maybe something isn't setup correctly on the ReefMat. Are you running anything in the media basket?

Hi, I think I know what the issue may be...its not mechanical, but my use of Microbacteria 7 during my installation of the sump and roller mat (while transitioning) from another sump. I was trying to keep any ammonia levels that might erupt down...I remember the same thing happened when I used too much NoPox (snot slime on my equipment)

When you do dose try applying in your return pump chamber (post filter-sock and post-skimmer). If your tank has already cycled you generally don't need to use MB7 or NOPOX on a regular basis. "Normal" nutrient levels are between 0.10-0.15ppm phosphates and 10-15ppm nitrates. Even higher levels (which I have) are perfectly fine for your tank.
