Filter cleaning

Hi guys just wondered how often you all clean your filters should it be done every week and how often do you water change

What type of filters are you talking about? Are they being used as biological filtration or just mechanical/chemical? I do water changes once a week but every tank is different.....depends on bio load and stability of the water chemistry.
