Hello
I just have a quick question regarding the filter efficiency of AIO aquariums. I have a 32g Biocube with intank media and fuge baskets, sponge between return pump and fuge to catch the chaeto I have in there that escapes from the ball. I feed pellets once a day, M, T, T,F, S, and then I feed about 8th cube of frozen mysis on W and Sun, I'm working on trying to get some more clarity out of the water. I currently have 2 660gph powerheads @ about 50% power using the eflux hub. I have one on the false back pointed toward the front glass, and the other on the bottom 3rd of the tank, on the left side to help create some flow for the junk on the sand bed. While the water is relatively clear, there is some junk that doesn't seem to be sucked into the intakes very well. I'm only using filter floss on the top level of the media basket, currently, and chaeto to help with nutrient export. I'm just curious, beyond upgrading my return pump (Which I have already done), is there anything I can do to help up the efficiency any?
My tank parameters are pretty stable for the most part, I change the floss every 3 days, and a 20% water change is done every week. Everything in the tank is currently thriving, my Zoas have been on a constant growth spurt, I have a purple filly Gorg that my clownfish has taken hostage, after breaking out of his plug cell, my ricordea happily walked around and settled on a small rock at the bottom, and it is currently growing also.
I have 3 freshwater tanks that are similarly "dirty" but those are planted tanks, and themed after various rivers, so I thought it added character, lol.
I'm just super jealous of you folks with ultra clear water and happy animals, so I was looking for some advice from you clear water veterans, on how I could help clear it up. I don't use any additives in my tank, and haven't added any chemical filters just yet, as I was trying to let my tank mature. (It is officially 5 months old, today)
