Howdy,

Got a quick question for yall - when you realize it's time to replace your floss do you rinse and reuse ? On my frag tank which is dealing with a little algae issue the floss top gets clogged and spills over the filter cup so quick and I just throw it out... As you see the bottom is clean as a cucumber

You can but only 2 or 3 times. It will start to clog up eventually.

Yes, I just throw it out. It's pretty cheap. It looks like ur using intank's dual density filter floss? I like it, but it definitely gets clogged faster. I usually change it out every day.

I use blue bonded pads too. Clean them with hose about 2 times and reuse . After that trash. Mine catch post refugium, so catch lots of stuff but resilient enough to not be maintained as much as a sock . The white portion gets brown. Needs to be changed before it starts retaining water over it.

I used to change mine out twice a week. But eventually I realised that it was out competing my skimmer and the skimate has reduced massively and slowly my nitrates started to creep up. Must have been something to do with the detritus caught in the filter and continued exposure to the water column. Now I don’t use any filter pads. Clear sea roller from a a great idea but I don’t have the space
