filter for my 16 gallon tank

I have a 16 gal tank with a built in overflow. How should I go about filtering it?

Does it come with cartridges in the package? If not, you could go with some chemipure elite on that small of a tank or purigen. Perhaps some filter floss padding on top of all that and you are set. With weekly water changes you won't need anything else for filtering.
