Hey folks... so i have a pretty new RODI unit that I bought for my tank and I’m new to using RODI in general. I’ve found replacement filters online for whenever the ones on my unit get old however one thing I can’t seem to find is what goes in this compartment? (see picture)

What’s in there and is it also something I’ll have to replace eventually? If so what should I be searching for online to find a replacement?

Thanks for the help!

For around $25, you can get a digital TDS meter (total dissolved solids.) The moment your RODI water starts reading anything above zero, you need to changes those filter again. ...takes the guess work out of it. : )

You will have to replace the filters in the clear plastic vertical cylinders. I have a BRS 6 stage. I have a sediment filter. It takes out fine sediment, kinda obvious. The next filter is a 5 micron carbon block and the one after that is a .5 micro carbon block. The carbon (charcoal) removes the chlorine from the water. The chlorine would attack the reverse osmosis (RO) membrane making it last not so long. I replace the first three filters about every 6 months or so. My RO membrane lasts several years. I have an in-line TDS meter after my RO membrane. My RO water runs at 2 TDS. I have a deionization (DI) resin canister next with another in line TDS meter. It is followed by another DI canister. When the TDS reads above 0 after the first canister, I pack it with fresh resin. I move canister #2 to the #1 position and put the newly packed canister into the #2 position. I get about 500 gallons of 0 TDS water from one canister. You can go to Bulk Reef Supply on you tube. They have a scad of videos on RODI systems.
