Hi im preparing for setting my 190L tank up.
I have live rock which im curing but also have a eheim 2217 canister and a small skimmer.
What media should i put in and where to place it,coarse or fine filter pads?
Im planning maybe to run my canister for first 6 months then maybe just use the live rock sand and skimmer.
Not sure what skimmer this is but what size of air pump would i need?
I will be doing water change every week after cycle and cleaning the filter at the same time.

If you use the canister filter make sure you change the media in it often since they can become nitrate factories. As far a the filter type, that depends on what you are trying to remove from the water. Finer media will clog up faster but remove smaller particulates while coarser will last longer but remove less. I am not familiar with that skimmer personally, but my understanding is they need a wood airstone that needs replaced often. If you have a air pump handy hook it up and see how it does. I am not sure how they are sized. Hopefully someone else can chime in. I know a lot of diy skimmers use them and I am sure some of the forum members run them.

Yes i know they are nitrate factory but i will be cleaning weekly.
Yes i has a airstone on the bottom cant see it because of the dirt
Thanks
