Filter media recommendations

I have a 25 gallon lagoon tank set it up this week and likely wont add any fish or inverts till next month. It came with 2 filter socks. I heard filter socks kinda suck and I have multiple open slots for more filtration. I do plan on adding filter feeders like a crocea clam, feather dusters, and pom pom crabs. Any recommendations for media?

Are you asking what media for your tank bottom? Or media to clean the water?

If this is an AIO. I like to run Filter Floss, Carbon (BRS rox changed every 2 weeks during water change) and marine pure gems or rock rubble if it's light in the display. I also like to run a skimmer since I have a fairly large bioload.

You also have to fit a heater and ato sensor

A lot of people don't run Carbon, but I find it a nice insurance policy and it does help keep the water clear.

The Marine Pure Gems like I said are just incase I feel like I don't have enough live rock, and they make a good place for pods to reproduce. Also just an insurance thing. Most little just throw extra rock rubble instead, it's much cheaper.

Really all you need is a mechanical filter and quality carbon (avoid lignite carbon). You can add a phosphate remover if need be (gfo, phosphate pads, etc).

filter floss is a good move, i use this stuff in my frag tank. It's super cheap and the roll is huge so you can just cut the size you need, and toss out the old dirty piece when you swap out.

Theres nothing wrong with filtersocks as long as you keep them clean. If they clog they will overflow (so will other filter flosses/sponges but to a lesser degree depending on how fine/coarse)

No need to over think media but any ceramic/leftover rock will work for extra bio, rox carbon in a bag (with a small amount of gfo as needed) or a refugium will all be good choices as well.
