Hi guys, ive been given a 110 liter tank, and ive been told different things such as, I wont get a succsefful tank of a canister filter I need a sump, and I have been told I can have a succsefull tank of a canister filter,

my tank hasn't had any holes drilled for a sump so im wondering if there is any form of a hang on back sump? ,, if so how much am I looking at for one and how easy are they to set up

Might check some of the online vendors like Bulk Reef Supply or Marine Depot to price equipment like HOB overflows to use for setting up a sump.

Hob and canister filters can run a reef tank. But require more regular maintenance than a sump style filter system. But for a 29 gallon tank you could probably manage with liverock, power heads and water changes and skip all mechanical filtration.
In this case i still like the sump to hide the heater. But some small heaters and clever aquascaping can hide this .

would you say a protine skimmer is needed too, I have seen a HOb mini skimmer, HOB heater and canister filter, is this enough would you recon, im not to fussed about being able to see the heater and skimmer,

A protein skimmer is beneficial, but many successful tanks run without one. I am not a fan on nano skimmers. Read reviews on the skimmer if not great dont waste your money.

I'd roll a tank that size Berlin style! Protein skimmer and powerheads only!
